The XBee Cellular 3G Global on-board modem from Digi offers easy-to-install 3G connectivity on OEM equipment with worldwide deployments (HSPA / GSM technology with backup 2G connectivity).
This modem is CE certified, thus eliminating the complexity, risks and significant costs incurred in the certification process.
The XBee cellular modem is programmable and supports custom embedded applications in MicroPython, allowing users to manage their devices more efficiently (this to eliminate the need for an external microcontroller in some cases).
It takes into account the full suite of Digi XBee APIs and AT commands, so that a customer can simply integrate this 3G cellular modem into their existing design (without needing to redesign their ongoing development).

To get started comfortably without worrying about accessories or subscriptions to set up, purchasing the XKC-M5T-W development kit is highly recommended. It comprises :
- A global cellular XBee modem with its multiband antenna
- A USB interface card for easy access from a PC of programming, parameterization and transmission expertise.
- A SIM card and a free subscription of 6 months / 5MB per month.
The supplied system works by roaming and will allow you to immediately initiate communications with your devices without worrying about the operator and contracts already in place.
